Dohar Upazila Parishad Chairman Alamgir Hossain was given the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award 2016 for his success as a public representative.
Mahatma Gandhi Research Council conferred the award to him at a programme held at the National Press Club in the capital yesterday. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque attended the programme as chief guest. Presided over by former information secretary Margub Morshed, the meeting was addressed, among others, by language movement hero Rawshan-ara-Bachhu, vice principal of World University Abdul Mannan.
Alamgir Hossain is also a director of Beximco Media Limited and chief editor of Anandabhuvan, a fortnightly magazine.
