The second-in-command of Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) chief Bangla Bhai and a most wanted militant, Mahtab Khamaru, was arrested by police from Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi yesterday morning. Selim Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bagmara police station, said a close associate of the JMB surpemo Bangla Bhai, Mahtab Khamaru, 50, son of Mohammad Khamaru of Talghoria village under Bagmara is a regional commander of the JMB. There are several cases against him for murder, terrorism, extortion, looting and arson attacks.
Acting on a tip off, police raided the Talghoria residence of Mahtab Khamaru, where he was staying after absconding for long, and arrested him. After primary interrogation, the JMB militant was sent to Rajshahi jail through the court, Hossain added.
