3 cops closed in Sylhet over mugging

Three policemen have been closed to district police line on chare of snatching Tk15,000 from three Jatiya Chhatra Samaj leaders, reports UNB. The policemen who faced the music are Assistant Sub-inspector Mostafiz and constables Rajon and Pavel of Sobhanighat police outpost.
Eahiya Chowdhury, lawmaker from Sylhet-2 constituency, said Afroz Ali, president of Deokolos union unit of Jatiya Chhatra Samaj, student front of Jatiya Party, in Bishwanath upazila of the district, its general secretary Mustakim Ali and senior convener Dilwar Ahmed were returning home from his residence riding a motorcycle around 2am yesterday. When they reached Jherjheri Para Evergreen area in the city around 2am, the three policemen intercepted them and snatched away Tk15,000 from them. They also threatened to implicate the victims in militant a case. Later the victims informed the matter to the lawmaker who brought it to the deputy commissioner (North) Faisal Mahmud’s notice. Following the incident, the police administration took the decision to withdraw the duo, said the DC.
