Pritilata Waddedar (1911-1932) was a Bengali revolutionary who dedicated her life to win independence of the country from the British rulers. To pay tribute to the legend on her 84th death anniversary, a commemorative programme followed by website launching programme was held at a city’s hotel on Friday.
Bangladeshi director Rashid Polash has taken the initiative to make a film titled ‘Pritilata’ based on her life events. The script and dialogues of 'Pritilata' are written by Golam Rabbani while Selina Hossain, Maleka Begum and Matia Banu Suku acted as consultants in the project. Bibi Russell will design the costumes for the film. Pritilata Trust is also involved in the project.
As a part of creating the film and to commemorate Pritilata a website www.banglarpritilata.com was inaugurated in Hotel Sonargaon on Friday afternoon.
Besides, a discussion titled ‘Why Pritilata Is Still Important In Our Time’ was also held at the event. Momtazuddin Ahmed, Ferdausi Priyabhasini, Bibi Russell, Selina Hossain, Shimul Yusuf, Shyamol Datta and Kazi Rozi, among others, were present at the program.
