The local administration in Gazipur has provided financial assistance to the families of those killed, and those injured in the 'Tampaco Foils' factory fire in Tongi BSCIC Industrial area, reports UNB. Deputy Commissioner of the district SM Alam handed over Tk 20,000 to the relatives of those killed each while Tk 10,000 to 25 survivors each at the control room opened by the rubble of the factory on Monday. Besides, MP from Gazipur-2 constituency Zahid Ahsan Russell gave Tk 5,000 each to the family members of those went missing in the incident from his own fund.
Additional deputy commissioner (Education and ICT) M Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury and District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer M Mahbubur Rahman were, among others, present on the occasion.
Thirty-four people were killed and 38 others injured as a devastating fire raged through 'Tampaco Foils' factory fire in Tongi BSCIC Industrial area in the early hours of September 10. At least 11 people still remained missing as per a list made by the district administration.
