Five killed in lightning strikes

Five people were killed in separate incidents of lightning in Kishoreganj and Habiganj yesterday.
Our Kishoreganj correspondent reports: Three people were killed and one was injured in separate incidents of lightning in Sadar and Nikli upazila. The victims were identified as Nizam Uddin, 60, of Katakhali in Sadar upazila, Nurul Islam, 20, and Rusmat Ali, 30, hailed from Sajanpur village in Nikli upazila.
Eyewitnesses said a lightning struck Nizam Uddin at around 12:30pm while he was working at a paddy field in Katakhali area, leaving him dead on the spot.
In Nikli upazila, three fishermen were critically injured as a lightning struck them at Sajanpur Purba haor area during rains. Local people rushed them to Bazitpur Zahurul Islam Medical College and Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Nurul and Rusmat dead.  Critically injured Abdul Mukarram, 22, was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
In Habiganj: Two people were killed by lightning strike at Kargaon in Nabiganj upazila, reports UNB.
Local people said a thunderbolt struck Javed,  of Sakua village and Krishna Gopal Das, son of Haricharan Das of Durgapur village in the upazila, while they were working in a field around 3 pm, leaving them dead on the spot.
