The newly-appointed fast bowling coach of Bangladesh national cricket team, Courtney Walsh, arrived in Dhaka by an Etihad Airlines flight yesterday night following a long air journey. His flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 9:15pm, half an hour behind the schedule. Walsh came to meet media persons one and a half hours after his arrival as his luggage was not found immediately, sources present in the airport said. He, however, refrained from talking to the media persons. He just waved and showed his thumb.
The former West Indies legendry pace bowler will go to Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at 3:00pm today to meet the players. He will then sign the three-year deal with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and is expected to talk with the media, BCB sources said.
This time, the legend will stay in Dhaka for a short time. He will return to Dhaka after the Eid vacation and resume his work in full swing just ahead of the series against Afghanistan and mighty England. In his 17-year chequered cricketing career, Walsh played 132 Tests and 205 One Day Internationals (ODI) for West Indies. He scalped 519 wickets in Tests and 217 wickets in ODI before retiring from international cricket.
