Bus strike on Kishoreganj-Dhaka route ends

Kishoreganj District Road Transport Owners’ Association called off its indefinite bus strike on Kishoreganj-Dhaka and others routes on Monday night after two days.
“We have withdrawn the strike on Monday night following a meeting to resolve the problem between the district road  transport authority president and deputy commissioner of Kishoreganj SM Alam ,”  said transport owners’ association President Helal Uddin Manik. Buses started plying on the all routes as soon as the strike was called off.
The transport owners called the stoppage on Sunday morning demanding punishment of the leaders of the Road Transport Workers’ Union that had enforced a transport strike from Saturday to Sunday morning to force an election of the union in due time.
Alamgir Murad Reza, general secretary of district road transport owners association, said the workers association called their strike illegally without informing the road transport authority. District road transport authority president SM Alam said they resolved the matter after holding discussions with both the parties.
