Art show on Egyptian civilisation at Gallery 21

A weeklong group art exhibition titled ‘Papyrus’ by eleven contemporary artists is now underway at Gallery Twenty One, Dhanmondi in the city. Jointly organised by BIVAB and Gallery Twenty One, Charge d’ affaires of the Egyptian embassy Ahmed Zaki, along with Professor Nisar Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of DU and eminent artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury inaugurated the exhibition on Friday evening at the gallery premises.
The exhibition highlights the work of Bangladeshi artists who recently embarked on a study tour of Egypt and whose works were exhibited at the Ahmed Shawky Museum in Giza, Egypt at the invitation of the Egyptian government. The participant artists are— Professor Mahmudul Haque, professor Nasrin Begum, professor Rokeya Sultana, Rezaun Nabi, Afroza Jamil Konka, Sohana Sahrin, Shameem Subrana, Mahabubul Islam Baabu, Bipasha Hayat, Maksuda Iqbal Nipa and Golam Faruque Swapon.
Ahmed Zaki said regarding the exhibition, “How the Bangladeshi artists portray the Egyptian civilisation very easily through their artworks! To see the exhibition, I feel that I am in my own country.”  
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 12 pm to 8 pm, until September 9.
