Spontaneous efforts of the people from all walks in life could eliminate militancy and terrorism from the society to establish sustainable peace and accelerate the pace of national development, speakers said yesterday, reports BSS from Rangpur.
They made these observations at a meeting against militancy and terrorism organised by the Millennium Stars School and College at its premises here as part of the nationwide programme announced by the Ministry of Education.
Principal Lt Colonel Syed Nazmur Rahman presided over the meeting participated by teachers and students of the institution, civil society members and local elite.
Deputy Commanding Officer of RAB-13 Battalion Major Farhan, Member-secretary of the district and divisional coordination committees of community policing Shushanto Bhowmick and Islamic Thinker Moulana Mahmudul Hasan took part as discussants. Students of the reputed educational institution Samantha Sayori Shreya and Zannatun Baki and teacher Shahnewaz Rahamatullah also spoke.
The speakers said that the recent militant attacks had been conducted to destabilise the country through killing innocent people as per local-alien conspiracies to stop foreign investments and obstruct development in Bangladesh.
