Man hurt in Chandpur blast dies at DMCH
A man, who sustained burn injuries in an oil tanker blast in Chandpur district town on Thursday, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday morning. Bacchu Mia, sub-inspector of DMCH police camp, said Nur Mohammad Mamun, 40,who was admitted to the burn unit of the hospital with 90 per cent burn injuries, succumbed to his injuries around 11
am. Earlier on Thursday, a fire broke out at a dealer shop of Jamuna Oil Company as an oil tanker went off with a big bang while loading fuel at Bangabandhu Road in Chandpur district town, leaving 20 people, including eight with burns, injured.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital while six of those burnt were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition was found to be critical.

Woman injured in blast dies
A woman, who sustained burn injuries during an air conditioner blast in city’s Old Dhaka on Saturday, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Parul Begum, 60.
Bacchu Mia, sub-inspector of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp, said Parul Begum succumbed to her injuries around 10 am. Parul Begum had 37 percent burn injuries.
Earlier, on August 27, Parul Begum and her grand son Fahim sustained burn injuries in the air conditioner blast at a house in Tipu Sultan Road of the capital.

Robbery at house in Sylhet
Robbers looted valuables from a house of a Dubai expatriate at Bilerband village in Jakiganj municipality area early Thursday.
Quoting the house owner, Abdus Sattar, Jakiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Shafiqur Rahman said a gang of robbers swooped on his house breaking open the collapsible gate around 2:30am and kept the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.
Later the robbers looted valuables, including cash Tk 70,000, seven tolas of gold ornament and four mobile phone sets.  Being resisted, the bandits injured four of the house inmates, including Sattar’s wife Farhana Begum, daughter Tarin Begum, son Tanim Ahmed and a relative, Shafiqul Islam.

Science Festival-2016 begins in capital
The two-day second Science Festival-2016 began on Friday at Shahid Bir Uttam Lt. Anwar Girls College in Dhaka Cantonment in the capital.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mostafizur Rahman inaugurated it as chief guest, said a release.
The co-education programme like the science festival is very much important for proper mental growth of students, the minister said adding that such kind of programme should to be continued for their betterment.
It was addressed, among others, by chief patron of the college and Acting Logistics Area Commander Brig. Gen. M Nurul Momen Khan and Principal of the college Col. M Rashidul Islam Khan. A total of 25 educational institutes participated in it.
