Trial of militants also be held: Minister

MUNSHIGANJ: International War Crimes Mass Trial Movement Convener Shahjahan Khan, also the Minister for Shipping, Shajahan Khan yesterday said trial of the militants would also be held like the trial of the war criminals, reports BSS.“No concession for militants. The militants committed the similar nature of crimes that were committed by the war criminals.
They have killed innocent people in the name of religion. Those militants will go to hell, not to heaven,” he said.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting against militancy and terrorism on Louhajong College ground in the district organised by upazila Awami League.
Local lawmaker Prof Sagufta Yasmin Emily, Deputy Commissioner Saiful Hasan Badal and Upazila
Chairman Abdul Gani, among others, spoke at the meeting presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Khalequzzaman.
Shajahan Khan said, “The country is for the believers of all faiths-Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Christians. We all took part in the War of Liberation.
There would not be any place for militancy in the country.”
“Sin can never be covered up with anything. Jamaat leader Meer Kashem Ali has been facing the capital punishment for war crimes like rape and killing of innocent people in 1971. Hate the sin, not the sinner,”
he added.
Earlier, the minister visited Shimulia Ferry and River Launch Terminal. He also inaugurated an office of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) there.
Later, Shajahan Khan visited Kathalbari and Kaorakandi river terminals.
At that time, the minister instructed the officers and employees concerned to look after the arrangements so that the journey of homebound passengers in the ensuing Eid-ul-Azha is free from any hustle.
