When the family members went to meet Mir Quasem Ali for the last time at Kashimpur jail at around 4:15 pm yesterday, he appeared calm and quite, they said. The group of 38 family members each got a chance to meet Quasem within the time allotted -- from 4:15 pm to 5:50 pm yesterday. The Independent talked with some of the family members who said Quasem wasn’t perturbed by the looming death, rather he was worried about his missing younger son Mir Ahmed Bin Quasem. He asked about Ahmed’s whereabouts and was worried to learn that there was still no trace of him. “I wished that I would see my son’s face before I die, but it hasn’t become possible for me,” said Ayesha Khandakar, wife of Mir Quasem Ali quoting her husband. She also said those who are hanging her husband would not ‘become winners’. This death is for Islam. Such death is similar to those of the martyrs, she claimed. Other family members also said Mir Quasem expressed concern about his missing younger son. He also asked them to pray for him.
