Bangladesh is going to open a Deputy High Commission in Guwahati, the capital of Indian state of Assam, as New Delhi has agreed to a proposal from Dhaka in this regard. “In pursuance of the Joint Declaration issued on the occasion of the visit of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to Bangladesh from June 6-7, 2015, the Government of India has conveyed its concurrence to the request made by the Government of Bangladesh to open a Deputy High Commission in Guwahati, India,” said a press release issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka yesterday. The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission will have consular jurisdiction over the states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arun-achal Pradesh, it said.
