IU passes Tk 65.20cr budget
KUSHTIA: The authorities of Islamic University (IU) yesterday passed the Tk 65.20 crore budget for the fiscal 2015-16 without keeping allocation in research sector.
IU Treasurer M Afzal Hossain placed the budget at a meeting held at Vice-Chancellor's office with VC Abdul Hakim Sarker in the chair.
Director of Finance and Accounts (In-charge) Md Akamuddin Biswas, Deputy Director (Budget) Md Siddique Ullah, among others, were present at the meeting.
Of the total budget, University Grant Commission (UGC) will provide Tk 57.70 crore while the rest Tk7.50 crore will come from university's own sources.
Treasurer M Afzal Hossain said that the IU authority had proposed a budget of Tk 86.37 crore to the UGC.
University sources said Tk 48.80 crore has been allocated for salaries and pensions of teachers and officials, Tk 9.20 crore for transport, telephone and electricity, Tk 6.00 crore for education related activities and the remaining 1.20 crore for others.
AIUB, Galesia Hotel & Resort Ltd sign MoU
American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and Galesia Hotel & Resort Ltd have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently, says a press release.
Under the agreement Galesia Hotel will provide opportunities to AIUB Tourism and Hospitality Programme (THM) faculty members and students to participate in various development programmes for synergetic sharing of knowledge, skills and actual experiences.
In addition to these academic related privileges, Galesia Hotel is also offering a number of discounts to AIUB’s employees and foreign visitors. On the other hand, AIUB will extend special package discounts to at least 3 Galesia’s employees who are desirous to enroll in the MBA/EMBA programmes in AIUB.
Pro-Vice Chancellor and Dean of Faculty of Business Administration Charles Villanueva of AIUB and Eng Mohammad Ali Jinnah, managing director of Galesia Hotel & Resort Ltd, signed the MoU on behalf their respective organisations. Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr Carmen Z Lamagna and other senior officials of the two organisations were also present during the signing ceremony.
