3 killed in road accidents
Three persons were killed and seven injured in separate road accidents in Rajshahi and Sylhet on Monday and on Tuesday.
UNB adds from Rajshahi: Two persons were killed and five others injured when a Rajshahi-bound bus collided with a truck on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj
highway in Basantapur area of Godagari upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Shyamal Das, 30 and Manik, 28, both were the residents of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district.
The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. SM Farhad, officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station, confirmed the incident
In Sylhet: An elderly woman was killed and two others were injured in a collision between a Sylhet-bound
CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a human hauler (tempo) at Bokarbhanga on the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Manjura Begum, 65, hailed from Laxmipur village in Jamalganj upazila of Sunamganj district. The injured were rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
New welfare programme
Rotary International has taken initiative to implement vast activities for the welfare of destitute people of the country.
New Governor of Rotary SAM Shoket Hossain informed this at a press conference held at National Press Club in the capital yesterday at the beginning of new financial year.
New Governer announced that next year 1, 000 poor meritorious student will get scholarship, 100,000 will get exercise book, 5000 will get eye operation. One thousand tubewell will be installed, one thousand Hygienic Latrine will be build.
Outgoing Governer Safina Rahman, DGE Mohammad Ayub, Former Governer Joinul Abedin, Selim Reza, Hafizullah, Ghulam Mustafa, Assistant Governor Abul Khair Chowdhury, Cosmopolitan President Saifur Rahman and Captain M Shafi, were present, among others. He urged the people of the society to come forward for assistant.
