Zia’s grave to be shifted, says Mozammel Huq

Liberation War Affairs Minister Mozammel Huq yesterday said the grave of former president Ziaur Rahman would be shifted from the parliament area because of his controversial role during and after the War of Independence, which proved that he did not want liberation of the country in 1971. “The role of Ziaur Rahman during the liberation war and controversial role in post war independence proved that he did not want liberation. The grave of such controversial person cannot be kept at the holy parliament area,” he said at a discussion organised by the local Awami League leaders at Kashimpur in Gazipur district.
Mozammel Huq said, “Though the trial of killers of Bangabandhu was held, the persons who stayed in the background of such assassination are out of reach. A commission would be formed to find out the persons both local and foreign who were behind the scene in the killing of Bangabandhu.” He also said the killers had assassinated Bangabandhu on Aug 15 in 1975 but could not kill his ideology. “None can kill his ideology. His ideology is becoming stronger everyday,” he added.
