SAARC finance ministers’ meeting today

The eighth meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Corporation (SAARC) Finance Ministers will be held today to discuss the matters related to the economic and financial integration of the region.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith is not attending the meeting and State Minister for Finance MA Mannan will represent Bangladesh at the meeting Instead.
Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is also not travelling to Pakistan to attend the meeting, according to Indian media reports. The country’s economics affairs secretary will represent India at the meeting.
According to the draft agenda, all the member states – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – will present country statements in the meeting on cooperation in the financial sector among the SAARC member states.
The meeting will also consider the report of the eighth meeting of SAARC Finance Secretaries that was held yesterday.
The meeting will also review the progress in the implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Meeting of the SAARC Finance Ministers held on August 20, 2015.
