Farid Ali passes away

Veteran actor, dramatist and valiant freedom fighter Farid Ali passed away yesterday around 4 pm at the Mirpur National Cardiac Institute at the age of 75. He was admitted at Mirpur National Cardiac Institute on August 19. Earlier on January 15 this year, he was admitted into a hospital in Old Dhaka after a cardiac arrest. Then, he took treatment or several times  in the different hospitals fwhen his condition deteriorated. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on March 3 donated Tk 25 lakh as financial assistance to wife and family members of ailing actor Farid Ali.
Farid Ali made his acting debut in 1962 through a stage play titled ‘Kone Dekha’ written by Shahidul Amin. Besides, he appeared on the television screen for the first time in the tele-drama ‘Ektola Dutola’, which was scripted by Munier Chowdhury. In 1966, with Amzad Hossain’s film ‘Dharapat’ he entered into the country’s film world.
Farid Ali-acted notable films are ‘Slogan’, ‘Chanda’, ‘Dag’, ‘Odhikar’, ‘Sangam’, ‘Obhishap’, ‘Parashmoni’, ‘Rangbaj’, ‘Saptadinga’, ‘Je Agune Puri’, ‘Titas Ekti Nodir Nam’, ‘Jaliat’, ‘Palangka’, ‘Gopalbhar’, ‘Tarulata’, ‘Ghuddi’, ‘Lagam’, ‘Kalmilata’, ‘Bhagyolipi’ and ‘Sadhona’, among others. The last tele-drama he acted in was ‘Purnimar Chade Megh’ directed by Amzad Hossain during Eid-ul-Fitr last year.
