Nat’l cricket team’s skill camp from today

Bangladesh preliminary squad will start their real practice with bat and ball after the completion of month-long fitness camp at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) today. The skill practice will continue till the first week of September before the Eid vacation. All the squad members will join barring Shakib Al Hasan, who is now in Maldives in vacation following his busy schedule in CPL.   The Tigers had started their conditioning camp ahead of the forthcoming home series against England on July 20.
Under the supervision of the local trainers and coaching staffs, they first worked on their fitness camp. Thereafter, they also began their fielding practice when the foreign coaching staffs turned up for work in Dhaka.
With throwing and catching sessions the month-long conditioning camp had been finished on August 18 under the supervision of fielding coach Richard Halsall. Players had also gym sessions with their strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayen. They however got several tips from the head coach Chandika Hathurusinghe and Aaqib Javed, who came here in Dhaka for seven days for High Performance (HP) unit as fast bowling consultant.
After four days of skill practice, they will play some practice matches among them. The opener of the practice match will be held at the SBNCS on August 25. Therefore, they will play two more practice matches with a day break. The matches will be held at the same venue on September 3 and 5 respectively.
Based on the performance of those matches, the selectors would pick up players to form the ODI and Test team for the Bangladesh’s upcoming home series against England.
