‘Construction begins in Nov’

The work of the Dhaka elevated expressway’s superstructure will begin in November, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said yesterday. “We hope that the construction work of the Dhaka elevated expressway between Kawla (near airport) and Kamlapur will be completed by 2018,” the minister told reporters after a meeting with Premchai Karnasuta, President of Italian-Thai Development Public Limited Company at Setu Bhaban in the capital. Among others, bridges division secretary Khondaker Anwarul Islam, project director Kazi Mohammad Ferdous and other high officials attended the meeting. The 19.73-kilometre-long superstructure of the expressway will stretch between Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and Kutubkhali via Kuril, Banani, Mohakhali, Tejgaon, Moghbazar, Kamalapur, Sayedabad and Jatrabari and connect the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
