According to China-Laos Joint Navigation Data Operation Center, the first positioning service base station powered by China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) was built and passed technical testing in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.
Supported by mapping and surveying authorities of both countries, the BDS-based Lao satellite positioning service system was officially launched. A Lao company with a leading role in geographic information owns and provides the service. The BDS is a global satellite navigation system independently developed and managed by China.
