‘New militant outfit’ traced in Rajshahi; 2 held

Two suspected members of ‘Ansar Rajshahi’ were arrested in Baghmara upazila early Tuesday as police have claimed to busted the newly floated Rajshahi-based militant outfit, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Amirul Islam Rumi, 23, son of Saiful Islam alias Tipu, and Enamul Haque Sabuj, son of Abdur Razzaq of Khamarpara in the upazila. Tipped off that a group of miscreants were taking preparations to carry out subversive activities in the area, a police team conducted a drive at Khamarpara in the early hours and arrested Rumi, said police super of the district Moazzem Hossain.
Based on his information, the policemen conducted another drive and arrested Sabuj from a banana cluster at Ramguia village, he said. A case was filed with Baghmara Police Station in this connection.
After primary interrogation of the arrestees, police came to know that there are six members, including Rumi and Sabuj, in the newly floated militant group, the SP said.
The four other members are -- Shariful Islam, son of Abdul Hakim Master of Khamarpara; Rawshan Ali alias Akash, son of Rabiul Karim, a resident of Bhangura upazila of Pabna district; Abu Ibrahim alias Tarek alias Ripon and Bulbul alias Al-Amin alias Billal, residents of Boalia in Rajshahi city. They were planning to kill Nirandra Nath Sarkar, a homeo doctor of the upazila, the SP added.
