Teenage boy electrocuted
Jessore: A teenage boy died from electrocution while listening music on his mobile phone through earpiece at Nauapara Bazar in Jessore district town early yesterday, reports UNB.
Jamal Hossain, father of the victim, said Hridoy Hossain, 16, a worker of Nauapara Akij Jute Mills and a resident of Nauapara Rail Slum area, fell asleep while listening music with the mobile phone set on charge and the earpiece placed into the ears around 11 am.
Getting no response from Hridoy in the morning, the house inmates called him but only to see his body lying on the bed.
3 held with stolen bikes
Magura: Police recovered 12 stolen motorcycles from Bhaina village in Sadar upazila and arrested three people in this connection on Monday night, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Ramzan Ali, 20, Bachchu Molla, 35, and Sabuj Molla, 30, residents of Mollapara and Ghoramara areas of the district town.
Assistant superintendent of police Sudarshon Kumar Ray said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid on the house of one Rustom Sheikh of the village and arrested the trio at night.
Following statements of the trio, the law enforcers also recovered 12 stolen motorcycles from the house.
A case was filed in this connection.
One killed, 10 hurt in clash
NARAIL: A man was killed and ten others were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Parmoillokpur area under Lohagara upazila yesterday morning, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Nur Islam Mridha, 55, of the same area.
Police said the clash ensued in the morning between two rival groups of villagers over establishing supremacy in the area. At one stage both the groups equipped with sharp weapons attacked each other, leaving 11 people injured. The injured were sent to Narail Sadar Hospital where Nur Islam succumbed to his injuries.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said M Kamruzzaman, senior assistant superintendent of police, Narail.
Two held with yaba
RANGAMATI: Police in a drive arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 20 pieces yaba tablets from Reserve Bazaar area of the district town on Monday, reports BSS.
The arrested were identified as Zahir Khan, 29, and Arafat Ali, 55, residents of Patharghata area of the district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police from Kotwali Police Station conducted the drive in the area at noon and arrested them with the yaba tablets, officer-in charge of Kotwali Police Station Mohammad Rashid said.
A case was filed in this connection.
Girl dies as coconut falls on her
Laxmipur: A minor girl died when a coconut fell on her head from the tree at Ramnagar village in Sadar upazila of the district yesterday, reports BSS.
The deceased was identified as Jakia Sultana, 3, of the village. Local people said the tragic incident took place yesterday afternoon when a coconut fell on her head on the bank of a pond when she was standing there after taking bath according to her mother’s instruction.
Local people took her to the hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead, said Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam Azad of Poddar Bazar camp.
Two killed in road accidents

Two persons were killed and four others injured in two separate road accidents in Mymensingh yesterday.
Mahin, 6, son of Shahidul Islam of Rupchandrapur died on the spot when a Sherpur bound truck crushed him at Rupchandrapur area on Mymensingh-Sherpur road in Tarakanda upazila at around 8 am, said Mazharul Haque, OC of Tarakanda Police Station.
In another accident, a tempo driver was killed and four passengers of the vehicle were injured when a Kishoreganj bound bus hitthe tempo at Churkhai on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in sadar upazila around 10.00am.
Tempo driver Sohel Miah, 30, died on the spot, said Kamrul Islam, OC of Kotwali Police Station.
Of the injured, schoolgirl Ripa Akhtar, 14, was admitted at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition, police said.
