NARSINGDI: State Minister for Water Resources Lt Colonel (Retd) Nazrul Islam Hiro (Bir Pratik) said the ideology of Bangabandhu could not be erased by killing him as he would remain alive in the hearts of people of Bangladesh forever, reports BSS. He said Bangladesh as an independent state would never come true if Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not born.
He said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to build a secular state free from terrorism, corruption and exploitation. But on 15 August 1975 the anti-liberation forces killed him brutally along with 16 family members and relatives.
The state minister said this while he was addressing a discussion organised by Narsingdi district administration on Monday in observance of the National Mourning Day and the 41st anniversary of martyrdom of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said the killers of 1975 are still hatching conspiracy to put the present democratic government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu, into troubles many ways. They are at present trying to create an unstable situation in the country through terrorism and militancy.
Deputy commissioner of Narsingdi Abu Hena Morshed Zaman presided over the discussion meeting which was addressed, among other, by Police Super Amena Begum BPM, secretary of Narsingdi district Awami League Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, former principal of Narsingdi Government College Golam Mostafa Miah and District Muktijuddha Commander Abdul Motaleb Pathen.
Referring to the trials of Bangabandhu’s killers, Nazrul Islam said the rest of the convicted killers hiding in different foreign countries must face the same fate like those who were executed in connection with the gruesome killing in 1975. He urged all to remain alert so that none can be involved in militancy.
