The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Youth and Sports Ministry yesterday suggested the government to arrange youth rallies in all divisions of the country to create awareness among the young people against terrorism and militancy, reports UNB. As part of the awareness campaign, the parliamentary watchdog also asked the ministry to arrange processions and human chains in the country, particularly in Dhaka, with the participation of different youth and sports organisations engaging national star players. The committee came up with the recommendations
at its 23rd meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad
Bhaban with its chairman Md Zahid Ahsan Russel in the chair.
The committee suggested conducting an investigation into and taking necessary actions against the individuals or organisations responsible for faulty design and irregularities in the construction of a structure of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP).
The structure has been built under a project to facilitate indoor training in case of inclement weather.
The parliamentary body asked the ministry to chalk out extensive anti-militant campaign programmes on the eve of November 1, the National Youth Day, engaging volunteers from different youth organisations, including Young Bangla and CRI.
Committee members State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder, Deputy Minister Arif Khan Joy, Nahim Razzaq and Md Nurul Islam Talukder attended the meeting.
The Youth and Sports Secretary and other high officials from the ministry were present, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
