CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Nine battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) here launched an extensive programme of releasing fish fries of different species and tree plantation at different places of Chapainawabganj district, reports BSS. The programme was inaugurated on Sunday by releasing 100-kg of fish fries in a pond of BGB camp in Chapainawabganj and planting a sapling on the same campus.
Commanding Officer (CO) of 9-BGB battalion Lieutenant Colonel S M Abul Ehsan inaugurated the programme. Among others, Chapainawabganj district fishery officer Shamsul Alam Shah and deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Sajdar Rahman were present in the inaugural ceremony.
As part of the programme, a total of 785-kg fish fries of different species would be released in different water bodies of the district and 1,050 saplings of different fruits, forest and medicinal trees would be planted at the battalion head quarters and different Border Outposts.
On the other hand, fish fries release and tree plantation programme was also inaugurated at Bholahat upazila in the district by 43 battalion of the BGB.
