India cricket team left Bangladesh with the solace of the victory in the last match of the three-match ODI series yesterday.
All the team’s players could not leave together Dhaka for not getting too many business class tickets at a time as they had not booked tickets in advance.
“Indian team is scheduled to return home on June 26. But the last match of the three-match one day series ended in due course without rolling on the reserve day. So, they had to fly at different times on the basis of flight schedule as it was not possible to manage so many tickets at a time,” Hasanuzzaman Zhoru, liaison officer of India cricket team, said over phone.
The bulk of the players, splitting into several batches, flew for their different destination on Thursday. The five-member first contingent led by ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Test captain Virat Kohli, opener Shikhar Dhawan, pacer Mohit Sharma and hard-hitter batsman Suresh Raina were heading for Delhi at 10:00am.
The seven-member second batch led by Dhawal Kulkarni, Umesh Yadav, Ambati Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane and co flew for Mumbai at 11:00am.
A coaching staff alongside three others left India in the third flight.
