Dhaka University Photographic Society (DUPS) is back with its most awaited national festival of the year. After the success of the first and second edition of the event, DUPS is now set to present ‘3rd National Photography Festival 2016’. Jointly organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and DUPS, in association with Anontex group Bangladesh limited and SONY, the festival has been scheduled to take place from July 29 to August 2 on the BSA premises in the capital’s Segun Bagicha area.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held today at 11am at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU). DU Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present as the chief guest, while Anontex chief executive Dr Anwarul Islam Ferdous and DUPS advisor Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan will attend the programme as special guests and BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky will preside over the event.
In this competitive festival, a total of 153 photographs divided into five groups will be showcased in an exhibition at National Art Gallery of BSA. Besides, 12 photographers will be awarded for their outstanding works.
Besides, DUPS will arrange three workshops on photography; among them, one workshop for school and college level and one for university level, while the third one will be a combined workshop. The workshops will be held on July 30, 31 and August 1.
The closing ceremony of the festival will be held on August 2 at 6pm at BSA.
