Madrasah teacher on remand over terror link

A court here yesterday placed madrasah teacher Anwar Hossain, arrested for renting rouse to Sholakia attack accused Shariful Islam, on a five-day remand, reports UNB from Gaibandha. Senior Judicial Magistrate Taskinul Haque passed the order after a team of police of Gobindaganj Police Station produced him before the court seeking a seven-day remand for him, said officer-in-charge of the police station Mojammel Haque. Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Anwar, a resident of Panthapara in Gobindaganj upazila and super of Khalsi Ebtedayee Madrasah, for sheltering Shariful Islam on Saturday. Shariful earlier confessed that he had been staying in Anwar’s house before the attack. Earlier on July 7, the eid day, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after terrorists attacked at a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
