Youth killed in road accident
SAVAR: An unidentified young man was killed in a road accident in Noyarhat bus stand area yesterday morning. Police said the accident took place as the Manikganj-bound speedy bus hit the man while he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, confirmed the incident. A case was filed in this connection.
Girl ‘commits suicide’
SYLHET: A female madrasa student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a tree at Bhitar village in Jaintapur upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Tahmina Akter, 13, a student of Kharilhat Qaumi Madrasa. Police said family members found the body of Tahmina hanging with a tree behind their house at about 1pm and informed them. Later, the law enforcers recovered the body in the afternoon. Sub-inspector of Jaintapur Police Station Abdul Mannan said the reason behind the incident could not be ascertained immediately.

3 held with counterfeit notes
SYLHET: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people, including a woman, in possession of 10,000 fake currency notes worth Tk10 lakh from Humayun Rashid Chattar in the city on Wednesday. The arrestees were identified as Nur Hossain,45, Imdad Ullah,55,  and Gita Rani Malakar,45.Assistant superintendent of police Mayeen Uddin, assistant director (Media) of Rab-9, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the trio in the afternoon. Later, the law enforcers recovered 10,000 fake notes of Tk 1000 and Tk 500 denominations from their possession. A case was filed in this connection.
