A Chittagong court yesterday (Thursday) again placed on three-day remand Md Shahjan in the case over the murder of Mahamuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Police Superintendent Babul Akter. Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-or-Rashid passed the order yesterday (Thursday). Shahjan was quizzed for three-day earlier along with Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, suspected arms supplier in the murder and another suspect Saidul Islam alias Saku. “The investigation Officer (IO) applied for ten-day remand for Shahjan, after hearing the plea the court granted the three-day remand,” said Nirmalendu Bikash Chakrabarty, Assistant Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police. Police suspect that Shahjan took part in the killing missing while Saidul Islam, brother of prime suspect Kamrul Sikdar alias Musa, was also involved in the murder. On June 28, police arrested Bhola and earlier on June 24 arrested Saidul Islam and Shahjan.
