How many people does it take to inspect a single camera set? The government thinks no fewer than three can do the task. So, three men will head for Germany to inspect the set that will be used to record the activities of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The three officials chosen are director general of the department of films and publication (DFP), Mohammad Liakat Ali Khan, its deputy director, Shiplu Zaman, and joint secretary of the information ministry, Nurul Islam, the information ministry has confirmed.
Information secretary Martuza Ahmed told The Independent that the three officials will go to Germany for pre-shipment inspection of a digital camera set and other materials. A letter signed by the deputy secretary of the information ministry said the camera will be imported through international tender to record the activities of the Prime Minister.
The letter says that the organisation from which the camera set will be procured will bear all expenses to send it.
Asked why three officials were going to Germany to inspect a single camera set, Mohammad Liakat Ali Khan said their signatures are necessary for its shipment. He said the officials will also make sure that the authentic set is being given.
“The DFP has shifted to the digital age from analogue. A high-quality digital camera is necessary to cover the activities of the President and the Prime Minister. This particular set includes a high-power lens and other modern equipment,” he added.
