‘Swapnalok’ remembers Bulbul Ahmed

To remember ‘Mahanayak’-famed film actor Bulbul Ahmed on his sixth death anniversary (July 15), cultural organisation ‘Swapnalok’ arranged a commemorative programme followed by a documentary screening at the seminar room of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Friday. Presided over by Firoz Khan, noted theatre personality Ataur Rahman, film director Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Gazi Rakayet,  SA Haque Alique, Bulbul's wife, actress Daisy Ahmed, theatre personality Ghana Chowdhury, director Chayanika Chowdhury and Hridi Haq, among others, spoke at the event on the topic ‘Noyon Somukhe Tumi Nai, Noyoner Majhkhane Niyecho Je Thai’ at the event. Before the discussion session, a documentary on Bulbul Ahmed titled ‘Ki Kotha Tahar Sathe’ was screened at the event.
Moreover, an emotional Daisy Ahmed also recalled memories of her husband and recited Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Shesher Kabita’.
Bulbul Ahmed was born on September 15 in 1940 in Dhaka. Before launching his acting career through stage drama in 1965, he worked as a banker from 1965 to 1975. He made his debut in television acting in 1968 before making a foray into filmdom. Bulbul Ahmed received four National Film Awards in his lifetime for his role in the films ‘Shimana Periye’, ‘Shesh Uttar’, ‘Badhubiday’ and ‘Dipu Number 2’. l
