A high-level meeting will be held today to decide the fate of the unauthorised structures in different residential areas in the capital city, reports BSS. Minister for Housing and Public Works Engineer Mosharraf Hossain will preside over the meeting at his secretariat office.
Representatives from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), city corporations and other departments concerned will attend the meeting, which would conclude with some specific decisions and directions to conduct demolition drives against illegal structures in residential areas in the capital city, official sources said.
The government earlier decided to conduct drive against unauthorised commercial institutions including restaurants, hospitals and educational institutions in the city’s Gulshan area.
The decision was taken in a meeting of cabinet committee on law and order held at Secretariat against the backdrop of the recent militant attacks.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) in April also identified the illegal structures in Gulshan area and issued letters to the people concerned regarding the eviction drive.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mohammad Mesbahul Islam told BSS that DNCC would start the drive soon.
