Against the backdrop of the recent militants attack in Gulshan restaurant and Sholakiah Eidgah, Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) has instructed all of its Palli Bidyut Samitys (PBS) to beef up the security in all of its establishments, said a press release issued by the BREB.
Major General Moin Uddin, chairman of BREB instructed the general manager of PBSs to ensure full-proof security of their Key-point installation (KPI) establishments during a view exchange meeting on July 11 held at the conference room of the BREB headquarter in the capital.
The release said that the officials concerned were instructed to follow and maintain institutional instructions to avert any unwanted incidents. It also instructed the officials to remain vigilant and alert to tackle any situations.
Moin Uddin said all PBS establishments are valuable KPI for the country thus those might become target for the militants who want to create chaos in the country.
He instructed the general manager of the PBS to ensure round the clock security through CCTV camera and the installation of archway gates, metal detector and fire extinguisher in the establishments.
He asked them to increase the security so that uninterrupted and unhindered electricity supply could be ensured to around 1,56,25000 subscribers under BREB.
The chairman of BREB also said the enhanced monitoring should take place in the mosques located inside the PBS campuses. He also asked the official to monitor the activities of any new person in and around the PBS establishments.
Besides, the officials of the PBSs were instructed to monitor the movement and expenditure of their own officials and staffs.
The officials were further instructed to immediately contact to police and district administrator’s office if any irrational incident is spotted.
