Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali yesterday said appropriate security arrangement has been put in place for diplomats and foreigners in the country, UNB reports.
He said this when newly appointed Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh Panpimon Suwannapongse met him at his office in the ministry.
Referring to the terror attack in Sholakia on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, the Minister said large scale casualties had been avoided because of preparedness and quick measures taken by the law enforcement agencies.
He stressed on the need for greater awareness against the menace of terrorism.
The Thai Ambassador informed the Minister that Thai investors are interested to invest in the power sector and a delegation of potential investors would visit Bangladesh in near future.
She also informed about Thailand’s desire to expand cooperation in the Health Care Sector. The possibility of starting negotiation for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Thailand was discussed in the meeting.
The Ambassador expressed condolences for the victims of the terrorist attack on July 1 at the Holey Artisan Bakery in Gulshan.
She also mentioned that the Prime Minister of Thailand did earlier send a message of condolence to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina condemning the terrorist attack.
