Says Shajahan Khan

‘Jamaat patronising militants’

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir is patronizing the militants in the country, alleged Shipping minister Shahjahan Khan, adding that there was no presence of IS or Al-Qaeda in the country..
“The style of recent attacks came from Jamaat-Shibir people who carried out killings by hacking and cutting tendons in 1971 and 2013-15,” said the minister while speaking at a programme on building unity against militancy organised by Sramik Karmachari Peshajibi Muktijoddha Samannay Parishad at Swadhinata Hall in the capitals’s Segunbagicha.
“The government is saying that the IS or Al-Qaeda do not exist in the country and this is truth,” the minister claimed.
He said that the IS and Al-Qaeda carry out attacks through suicide bombings. “This is their style of attack. This style is not present in the country.”
