Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam yesterday stressed the need for launching a social movement to combat militancy, reports BSS. "Social movement is a must to root out militancy from the society," he said while speaking at a discussion on 'Religious Fanatics: Militants' Activities' organized by Bangladesh Muktijoddha Mohajot Kendrio Command at Jatiya Press Club in the capital yesterday.
The minister was very critical of the BNP-Jamaat clique and said, "Soon after the meeting of BNP leaders with Israel's intelligence agency Mossad, the country witnessed some terror attacks as BNP-Jamaat have link to the IS and Mossad."
He said a vested quarter is now trying to create an unstable situation across the country like what the Al-Badr and Rajakars did during the War of Liberation in 1971. Issuing a note of warning that there is no room for militancy in Bangladesh, Qamrul called upon all patriotic people to forge unity against the militant forces. Leaders of the organization Monirul Islam including and MA Karim and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana also took part in the discussion.
