Army Captain Udbhas Chakma, who fled from a training course in Sylhet Cantonment, has recently been arrested with the help of Indian authorities after he ran away to Mizoram, said an inter services public relations (ISPR) release yesterday. It said, the captain escaped from Sylhet Cantonment on May 12, 2015. Later, he got involved in various criminal activities creating a network with different terrorists groups in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. He intruded into Mizoram state of north east India along with his wife trekking through inaccessible hilly areas to avoid arrest. Recently he had been taken into custody with the assistance of the Indian authorities, the ISPR release added. Necessary actions are being taken against the officer as per the Army Act, the release added.
