Sunamganj: The authorities of Chhatak Degree College in Sunamganj district are allegedly realising additional fees for admission into HSC course, beyond the amount set by the government, reports UNB.
Talking to some guardians and students, this correspondent came to known that the college authorities realised Tk 4,115 as admission fee from each of the students to enroll in the Higher Secondary Certificate course, which was far beyond the rate fixed by the Education Ministry. A total of 500 students enrolled in the three departments at the college this year.
However, Professor Moin Uddin Ahmed, principal of the college, could not be contacted for his comments, despite repeated attempts.
The ministry earlier fixed total Tk 1,000 fee, including session charge, for taking admission into the colleges in the upazila level and rural areas, Tk 2,000 in those in the district towns and Tk 3,000 in those in the metropolitan areas, except Dhaka.
