Govt decides to set up CIRT to address cyber attacks

The government has decided to set up a Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT) under Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) to address the cyber attacks, officials sources said, reports BSS. They said the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division has issued an office order giving mandate to Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) CIRT to act as Government Computer Incident Response Team under the titled “BGD e-Gov CIRT. “The government is making its best efforts to establish national cyber security incident management capabilities in Bangladesh as cyber crime and cyber attacks have emerged as a threat to digitization and IT system,” said Tarique M Barkatullah Director of National Data Center. He said the BGD e-Gov CIRT will manage cyber security incidents in Bangladesh government network and related infrastructure. The BGD e-Gov CIRT will serve as a catalyst in organizing national cyber security resilience initiatives including education, workforce competence, regulation, cyber exercises among various stakeholders, Tarique said.
