Audience-admired Nazrul Sangeet singer Ferdous Ara will be performing at the 36th North American Bengali Conference (NABC), also known as the ‘Banga Sammelan’ 2016. The mega event will be held at the historical premises of Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York City from July 1 to 3. This is certainly a monumental occasion as this is the very first time that any Bangladeshi artiste has been ever invited to perform in any event at Madison Square Garden. Bengali artistes, litterateurs and cultural activists from all over the world will gather together in this event. The theme for this year is to overcome and think beyond all differences and negativity and spread the culture of Bangla all across the globe.
Ferdous Ara will be performing solo music at MSG’s Hammerstein Ballroom and for that purpose, she will be leaving Dhaka for New York tonight. Featuring networking opportunities, social gatherings, reunions, film screenings, drama plays, literary readings and cultural performances, the goal of this year’s Banga Sammelan is to shift the paradigm of conferences from a focus on socialization and entertainment to an emphasis on the exchange of ideas to inspire the next generation and leave a legacy for the future.
