FARIDPUR: The biggest ever budget of Faridpur Pourashava was announced yesterday morning at local Ambica Memorial hall, reports BSS.
A total proposed budget of Taka 320 crore 64 lakh 37 thousand for the 2016-17 fiscal year of Faridpur Pourashava, the biggest ever in size since its establishment in 1869 was unveiled yesterday giving special emphasis on infrastructure improvement, water supply and sanitation.
In the budget announcement function Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor, Chairman of Faridpur Sadar upazilla parishad was the chief guest. Mayor of Faridpur Pourashava Shaikh Mahatab Ali Methu announced the proposed budget in presence of a large number of citizens of this pourashava.
The revised budget of the outgoing 2015-16 fiscal was Taka 51 crore 35 lakh 65 thousand 394 while the new budget for next fiscal stood at Taka 320 crore 64 lakh 37 thousand.
In the budget document an amount of Taka 34 crore 73 lakh 31 thousand 838 was shown in the revenue head, Taka 25 crore 46 lakh development head, Taka 5 crore 74 lakh in the capital head while Taka 255 crore was earmarked in the project head.
Presenting the budget, the mayor sought the cooperation of all particularly the citizens for the successful implementation of the budget with utmost accountability and transparency.
In his speech the chief guest Khondoker Babor put some suggestions particularly on modernization of street lighting, road island and its beautification and pure water supply for the town dwellers.
He further disclosed that Faridpur Pourashava will be upgraded into city corporation soon. The gazette notification is pending in the Ministry.
Earlier the CEO of Pourashava gave the inaugural speech welcoming all for attending the very important budget function. The proposed budget approved yesterday will be required to get the nod of Pourasahva parishad in the meeting of the councilors to be held soon.
