Construction of roads, drainage system launched in Rangpur

RANGPUR: Construction works of a road and drainage systems were inaugurated in Pakpara area under Ward No-20 in the city yesterday afternoon, reports BSS.
Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the infrastructural development works by unveiling plaque at a ceremony arranged at Pakpara Mour as the chief guest.
With City Councilor Tauhidul Islam (Ward No-20) in the chair, Female City Councilor from reserved wards Jafrin Islam Ripa, Executive Engineer of RpCC Azam Ali, its Assistant Engineer Abu Jafar, attended the ceremony, among others.
The city corporation has been implementing construction works of the road and drainage system under the phase-wise construction packages of 142 separate roads, drains, culverts, drains and other works under 142 groups at Taka 33 crore from its own resources.
The City Mayor, also a valiant freedom fighter, said in the ceremony that construction works of the road and drainage system are being implemented in the city as part of massive infrastructural development works.
He ordered all concerned for timely completion of the infrastructural development works ensuring quality works with transparency and cautioned for taking stern actions if any irregularities were found in the implementation process.
Jhantu also sought continuous cooperation of the citizens in turning Rangpur into a modern, eco-friendly, beautiful and traffic jam-free city with eye-catching looks ensuring adequate infrastructures, civic services and amenities.
