Audience-admired Bangladeshi mime artiste Partha Pratim Majumdar, who currently resides in Paris, will be seen in a French film where he will be playing the role of a rich steel businessman. According to Partha Pratim Majumdar, the film will focus on the influence of Asian businessmen all over the world. The film will see its release in 2017. Partha Pratim Majumdar has also worked in the Hollywood film ‘Valeria and The City of a Thousand Planets’. In addition to mime art, he has acted in several French television programmes. So far he has appeared in over 50 television shows and films in France, Hollywood and Canada.
Partha Pratim’s career took a huge turn in 1979. Impressed by his solo performance at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the then French Ambassador to Dhaka, Loic Moreau and the director of Alliance Française, Gerard Grousse, offered him an opportunity for a scholarship in 1981, where he could get to work under the French mime artiste Etienne Decroux and obtain training. He was then introduced to Marcel Marceau who trained him for three years, from 1982 to 1985. The following year, he performed a solo titled Boatman of Padma at the UNESCO Headquarter in Paris. This performance was the first mime act at the World Heritage Centre.
