Roadside valuable trees in Melandaha upazila have been being damaged for the last few days by local criminals. Local people said miscreants are adopting new technique to pilfer the trees on both sides of Melandaha Bazaar-Mahmudpur Road in Melandaha upazila. First they removed bark from the trees, when the trees die after some days they cut off braches of trees and at last cut the log in the dark of night. In this way the miscreants already pilfered a good number of trees- Mehagoni and Koroi from the area. Nangla Union Parishad Chairman Ismat Pasha said the trees were planted in 1980 beside the road of LGED.
