The contractors of the Roads and Highways Department  in Jhenidah yesterday agitated in the town and locked the office of the executive engineer demanding payment of their arrears amounting to Tk9.0 crores. The contractors alleged the authorities have not been paying their bills against completed works since the fiscal year 2011-12.  The contractors said they would continue their agitation programme until the bills were paid. Jhenidah Roads and Highway Contractors’ Association President Ashoke Dhar, Joint Secretaries Abdul Hakim and Sarwar Jahan Badsha, were among the contractors, spoke at the protest rally.
