On June 16, track-laying on the western section of the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway in Guizhou was completed. The completion of the western section of the Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Rail-way will reduce the travel time between Guiyang and Kunming to just two hours.
The Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway, which has been under construc-tion for eight years, is now complete. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2016. At that time, travel times between Shanghai and Kunming will be reduced from 38 hours to about nine hours.
The Shanghai–Kunming High-Speed Railway (also known as the Shang-hai-Kunming Passenger Line) is 2,266 kilometres-long and begins in Shanghai in the east and ends in Kunming in the west.
