A Dhaka Court has issued an arrest warrant against architect Abdus Salam, Managing Director of Dom-Inno Builders, in connection with a fraud case filed by a client for not handing over flats as per agreement.
The Dhaka chief metropolitan magistrate issued the arrest warrant on Monday against Salam under sections 27 and 30 of the Real Estate Development and Management Act 2010.
According to the case statement, in 2008 AKM Jahangir Khan and his four sisters signed an agreement with Dom-Inno to build a multi-storey building on a 17-katha land at Arambagh in the capital.
As per the condition of the agreement, Dom-Inno was supposed to complete the construction by 2011. But, they did not start the construction work even after seven years.
On the other hand, Dom-Inno sold a number of flats to customers even before starting the construction work.
Khan filed an application with the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) after failing to communicate with Salam. Later, REHAB arranged a meeting and urged Salam to come to a compromise with the land owners. However, Salam paid no heed to the issue.
Failing to meet Salam, Khan served a legal notice on him asking him to pay Tk 17 crore in compensation. But, Dom-Inno did not even reply to the notice.
